Iroquois Christ Lutheran has organized their
outreach programs under a separate (501(c)3) organization
This not for profit organization is called Iroquois WISE
Coalition. Donations are generously received from
community and congregation members to help maintain the Food
Bank program and the Rotating Homeless Shelter program.
These programs can be extended when additional funding is
available, as the need is great for additional neighborhood
assistance. Here is a brief description of the programs
currently in progress:

Food
Pantry: pictures left bottom) Between 100-140
people from
the community are given food consisting of canned foods, fresh
vegetables and fruits. More than 1000 pounds of food is distributed
each week. Referrals are provided for assistance with their other
needs. Volunteers are always sought to help administer this program.
Anyone wishing to work a couple of hours one or two days per week are
welcome. You will be asked to help pick up and deliver foods from
Gleaners where the food is purchased and delivered it to the church.
You may also be involved in packaging and distributing the food for two
hours each week. Donations of canned goods, or monetary donations are
always needed.

Homeless
Rotating Shelter Program: We are a part of the Rotating Shelter
Program of Detroit. Once each year during the winter months sixty men,
women and children are fed, housed and provided fellowship at the
church. Church and community groups volunteer to pack lunches, and
prepare and serve food. Used clothing is collected and distributed, and
the group is helped with grooming and hygiene needs. A Barber and
Health Nurse also volunteer their services. We would not be able to
administer this program without the volunteer help and donations
received from churches throughout the Detroit Metro Area and our Indian
Village residents.
