Homeless
Homeless and Hungry

In conjunction with the Cass Corridor Homeless Shelter Program of Detroit, Iroquois WISE Coalition houses 60+ homeless, men, women and children once each year during the winter months. This year we had our guest during Easter week in  April.

Each day we cooked, served breakfast and dinner, while providing a bag lunch. At our facilities, our guest enjoyed entertainment, television, conversation and cots.  During their stay they also received medical inspections and health care, from a nearby hospital when needed. There are bath facilities at the church, and clothing is provided and kept laundered during their stay at the church.

We are grateful to our volunteer Detroit area churches who pack lunches, cook dinners and serve at one day during the week. Without their help the job would be overwhelming. Donations of heath care items are also collected and contributed by the Cornerstone School children and staff, and nearby churches are also appreciated. It  is the combined effort of many that has kept this program going for many years.
